We have problems with adding bank accounts to Visma. Since we have many transactions in currencies other than SEK, and also clients paying from different countries, we like to use different accounts for different kind of transactions and currencies. Now, the problem is that we can not add banks to Visma, only support can do that. And if we don't have the account registered in Visma in the right way, we can not show the account on the payment instructions on the invoice.
We now started using Revolut Business for receiving payments in EUR and GBP using local bank details, and would like to be able to show these on the invoices. We asked to add this, but first got a message that more clients should ask for it, and now the request to post it on the forum.
I think it is important to be able to use all banking options. It not only saves a lot of costs, but it should also be the company decising which bank to use, not Visma.
So, I have two questions: - Please add Revolut to the list of banks - Please make it in a next update possible to add banks ourselves, so we don't need to bother support with this anymore.
We only add foreign banks if many customer needs the bank in the list, this is for priority reasons.
However, we do receive the suggestion about being able to add a foreign bank in eAccounting from time to time and we are, at the moment, evaluating if we in the future can offer the option "Other Bank". That would be an option to chose if you want to use a bank that is not avalible in the list.
If there is a change regarding this suggestion we will update this post 🙂
Maybe a somewhat dangerous suggestion / idea but anyway... here we go 🙂
As far as I can see a bank in eEkonomi is only a name. As longs as you don't utilize any sort of external connection like a bank connection / payment files - will it really matter what the bank is? I guess it gives eEkonomi/eAccounting a hint go how to read the transactions lists ("kontoutdrag") if you do a copy-and-paste but beyond that? Will it be seen on the customer invoices?
So, if you set up a bank account in eEkonomi but with the wrong bank name, what happens? Maybe Visma has to answer that one.
In the Application Programing Interface (API) for eEkonomi/eAccounting, the banks is only a list of names and the bank accounts does not seem to have any direct/visible connection with the list of banks. In the API the bank name of a bank account is a free text/string field, not an id number (that could point to a specific bank). Hence my Quick & Dirty suggestion above.
Disclosure: I have not tested anything of this and I would dare to say that Visma can definitely not take any responsibility if you "hack" the system in this way. I only show you a potential option. 🙂
Thanks for your suggestion. In fact, this is basically how we administer our accounts in other banks right now.
Our main problem is indeed in the customer invoices. The invoices show the bank name, BIC/SWIFT, and the IBAN/account number. The IBAN/account number is a free field, but the bank name and BIC/SWIFT are shown on the invoice based on the selected bank; it is not possible to set/change this.
So, an "other bank" option would solve this, assuming that this means that we can set the bank name and BIC/SWIFT ourselves.
Any updates about this? The problem is still not solved. The suggestion to add an "other bank" function is great, but as far as I can see not implememted yet?
Well.. the status of this idea is "Inte planerad" / "Not planned" so basically it seems that it is not something Visma is currently planning to do, at least not in the near future.
(Or maybe you question was more like a rhetorical one? 🙂 )
Well, it was not meant to be retorical, but I was not aware that nothing is happening. Adding the "other bank" function was not mine, but Visma's suggested solution for the problem. For me it would be enough if they could add the bank we use (Revolut) to the bank list.
We are now, depending on the amount, either asking clients to pay to another account than the one printed on the invoice, or changing the invoices in Photoshop. This is not only a lot of work, but also highly unprofessional. So, it is still a big problem for us.
I re-read the thread and I see now that it is not fully clear if it is the adding of the Revolut Bank OR the ability for users to add a custom bank, that is "Not planned".
Can please somebody from Visma explain the status of this? For us it is enough if you can just add Revolut to the list of banks. The solution of implementing an "other banks" function as Lovisa suggested is even better. But something needs to be done. Else we have to stop using Visma.
I hope Visma realise this is somewhat of a circle-argument. There will never (or at least in a long time) be more than a very few customers since as customer I will likely not want to start using eAccounting/eEkonomi OR switch to a bank that is not already in the system.
Please see this comment as an argument of the need of being able to custom banks.
this is very ignorant attitude from Visma. Customers are just asking about adding one more position to the long list of banks or letting us customize it ourselves as "other bank". It is not about making some complicated integration between Visma and new bank.
For the same reasons above please consider adding TransferWise and the ability to put the local bank details on the invoice that the customer will use for payment (example for the UK would be the TransferWise UK account number and sort code (clearing number).
